Swedish Realist Painter, 1853-1919
Swedish painter, illustrator and printmaker. He came from a poor family and studied (1866-76) at the Konstakademi in Stockholm, supporting himself throughout this period. From 1871 to 1878 he contributed illustrations to the comic journal Kaspar and the Ny illustrerad tidning. From 1875, for several decades, he was a prolific book illustrator, his most renowned work in this field being his drawings for Föltskärns beröttelser ('The Barber-surgeon's tales'; pubd 1883-4) by Zacharius Topelius, and the Rococo-inspired watercolours for the Samlade skaldeförsök ('Collected attempts at poetry'; pubd 1884) by the 18th-century Swedish author Anna Maria Lenngren. Nils Blommer1816 - 1853,was a Swedish painter. Starting his career as an apprentice in Lund he experimented with painting portraits from the age of 20. He achieved some successes and in 1839 he had saved up enough money to move to Stockholm. There he took the name Blomm??r and enrolled in the Fria konsternas akademi. After winning the academy's prize several times he got a stipend in 1847 to travel abroad. He spent time in Paris but later moved to Italy, where he married his wife Edla Gustafva Jansson, also a painter, in November 1852. A few months later he caught a fatal chest disease
Amaldus Clarin Nielsen(23 May 1838 - 10 December 1932) was a Norwegian painter.
He was born in Halse as a son of shipmaster and merchant Niels Clemetsen Nielsen (1795 - 1845) and his wife Andrea Marie Møller (1802 - 1866). He grew up in Mandal in Vest-Agder county, Norway. He lived most of his childhood and adolescence without a father. He received some tuition from a traveling drawing teacher and traveled to Copenhagen to study in 1854

After a first training in the Dilh et Guerhard porcelain factory, he later was a painting student of Jean-Baptiste Regnault. He won in 1803 Price of Rome with his painting Enee portant son pere Anchise. He lived in Villa Medicis, in Rome, Italy, from 1809 to 1812, and won a gold award for his painting Mort de Louis XII. He then started a career as an interior decorator (Fontainebleau Castel, Brongniart Palace, Louvre Museum, Senat).
